Clow Beck Children's Centre
A residential centre for primary school children. It will demonstrate a low impact and sustainable approach. Children will have hands on experience of food production growing vegetables, caring for a flock of milking sheep and making cheese.
Space heating will be by biomass. Lighting and power will be by electricity from wind turbines and photovoltaics. Composting closets will be used and will provide fertiliser for horticulture. Foul drainage will be to private treatment plant and reed beds. Rainwater will be recycled
Fund raising for this ambitious project is ongoing but a start has been made building the first wing of the accommodation block.
